pkginst is a simple package installer for unix and unix like platforms. pkginst uses simple compressed packages (such as tar) to extract package contents to there locations. pkginst does not store any file locations and so doesnt offer any uninstall features. pkginst started off as the package system for THIX OS, however, has evolved from a simple program and now has its own sourceforge location. |

pkginst package directory i.e. pkginst gcc.tgz i.e. pkginst gcc.tgz /mnt/share the "directory" is not needed, and the default is root /, the "directory" should only be used when installing a package onto a mounted volume, where its root is not the current systems root! |

REQUIREMENTS |
pkginst requires a UNIX like envionment. pkginst can be compiled on any platform, binarys are provided only for x86 systems pkginst requires a TAR installer to be installed. This can be downladed using the CYGWIN setup.exe or is commonly supplied with Linux distros. THIX os has a TAR package availiable. |
